Hi -- I'm apple shaped -- 44" waist, 45" tummy (measured 4-/12" below waist) and 45" hips (measured 8"inches below waist). My seat and thighs are relatively slimmer.

I prefer elastic waist pants and have made many of them from all kinds of fabrics -- nice wool, to casual knits, to many cottons.

What I don't like is the "floppiness" in the upper thighs that comes from making pants big enough for my tummy. I'd like to have a slimmer upper leg cut.

Is there a thread here somewhere that discusses how to do that? What I have been doing to alter patterns to fit my waist by slitting the pattern at the crease-line from the waist to the knee & spreading it 1 inch in the front and 1 inch in the back at the waist line. I thought that would be a gradual enough taper. But, I'm not happy with this floppiness in the thighs. Any suggestions or referrals to other threads where this is discussed would be appreciated?

Also any patterns that others with similar figure problems have worked with would be appreciated.

Prior thread re pants for apple shapes. If you put apple in the search and put boards in the second space, a number of discussions will come up regarding clothing for apple shapes.
