I have a BIG birthday coming up, my 50th. My DH has been hounding me for an idea. I think a dressform would be a good thing. However, what kind would you get? I have read the dressform thread. Please, off the cuff remarks about what you would get for your birthday. I am thinking about Uniquely You, Fabulous Fit, or just the local Fabricland kind that I would pad out. Each one requires work to get it to replicate your body.
I am Canadian, so although all options are available, some are more costly than others.
Thanks. I am at a loss as to what to choose. Help, please?

What kind *I* would get vs what *you* should get is like comparing the *right* sewing machine between any two people. You are going to get a variety of answers on this (just like sewing machines) and everyone will say that theirs is the best...for them. If you've read those dress form threads like I did when I was shopping, then you already know this to be true. And we may have different budgets, body types, and ideas about how we will use the form.

If I were you, I would take the research you've done and make a list. What's important to you? What isn't? Plusses and negatives to each form (they all have both). And go from there. Sorry there really isn't a cut and dry answer to this, but don't worry. I love my form, use her all the time, and think having one of any kind is better than not. The differences really aren't all that significant in the long run, aside from poor quality, perhaps. Most everything else you can work around.
