I worked out a great way to find your correct shoulder slope and thought I would share. My daughter took a close up photo of the shoulder slope area. I printed it out. The photo was from my neck to just above the bust area. The bra straps show and the creases where the arm meets the body show. I put tracing paper over the picture and outlined the neck, bra straps, shoulders, and crease lines. I then taped this down to 1/4 inch graph paper. To enlarge, measure your body from arm crease to arm crease. Mark this width on 1/4 inch graph paper. Now, just use your tracing to enlarge the slope to life size on the graph paper. Mine worked out to be 1/4 inch equalled one inch. This has worked perfectly for me. I discovered one shoulder is higher than the othe one. The next pattern I altered was perfect. I made a backward L cut from below the armsyce (but above the bust dart), and then upwards to the shoulder. Cut this apart. Lay your see thru pattern over your newly drawn slope drawing. Move the cut out portion down to match your graph paper and redraw your new line. This will also work for square shoulders, just move it upwards instead of down. Hope this might help. Deb

Wow. I have to try this. This is very interesting. It reminds me of the Lutterloh system of pattern making. I am presently learning this system, but imagine if we could enlarge other areas in this fashion with success. Great tip.

I'll have to try this - fitting my shoulders has been my biggest frustration.

THANKS!

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Deb18,
Have you considered copying this into a tip in the tips section here at PR?

cool idea!
Another one is but you do need a helper is to stand back against a mirror and use an eyebrow pencil to trace your shoulders. We then used a leveling thingo ( the one with the bubble in the middle...I pinched it out of hubby's toolbox ) to draw a straight line across the shoulder marks! Easy peasy to see if you shoulders are level!
cheers
