When I was in Alaska I had *the* most wonderful salmon chowder.  Do any of you have a good recipe for it that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Gigi, I have no idea how to make this, but if you get the recipe, you simply must share it. Sounds yummy.

Gigi,

Here is one: Salmon and Dill Chowder.

I have not tried this recipe, but it sure sounds good!

That does sound yummy.  I love epicurious.com.  It's a great resource, and the comments of those who have tried a particular recipe are very instructive.

But then, I often strike gold just by googling a recipe I'm interested in.

Mmmm, Karen, that does sound good.  The one I had in Alaska had corn in it but I think I might have to try salmon/dill. :tounge:

Epicurious.com had a couple salmon chowder recipes with corn in it, but I didn't look at those.  If you do a search for "salmon chowder" you will find them.

Once you make one you'll have to report back.

Gigi, while I was in college I baked pies for a cafe that made a wonderful smoked salmon chowder. As a recall, it was just a straight-up potato based chowder with a load of half-and-half, dill and then some smoked salmon crumbled in. The salmon was the NW style hot smoked kind, not the cold-smoked lox. Really good stuff!  :tounge:

Karen, I made the Salmon and Dill Chowder the other night and my family *loved* it. My husband and I went grocery shopping this afternoon and he requested it again sometime this week. Thanks for the link!

Gigi,
Here's a few links to salmon chowder with corn.  I haven't tried any of them but all of them sound yummy...
