Hi Lovelies,

I'm having some difficulties with a fabric, I've tried ironing it & no matter what I do it still stays 'wavy' or slightly rumpled looking.

I've tried dampening it down, using a pressing cloth, full heat/steam & there is no change at all! however, I can do quite a nice crisp fold, funny huh!

The tag says it's a polyester with a metallic thread (hand washable). I'm guessing it's the metallic thread making it so difficult/impossible to iron smooth.

I do think it's meant to have a slightly 'unpressed' look & I don't mind that at all, but still....there are some bits much more rumpled than the others.

Any ideas? I've already cut my pattern out so may as well make it up.

thank you

Have you tried using a Rajah Press Cloth?

Hi Leslie,

yes, I have tried that. it must be very temperamental fabric.

I would think that it is supposed to be wrinkled. A lot of the metallic threaded fabrics are like that.

hmmm...I know exactly what you mean, but it's not really "wrinkled" looking.

It's more like the majority of it is fairly flat, but some bits have been scrunched up like a piece of paper. those are the bits I can't get to sit flatter. Or when you roll a piece of paper & you can't get that 100% flat again.
