I think Fabric Mart used to be in the Merchant Gallery. They have skins and amazing prices on fabrics.

The Merchant Gallery is not a free service to retailers. They probably just decided to not pay to have their site listed anymore.

As you probably know, "sponsors" are companies that pay to advertise on this (or any) site. Could be that they're trying to save a buck or two (who isn't), or don't believe the extra business the sponsorship brings makes it a good investment, or just want to switch up their advertising. Advertising of any kind is SERIOUSLY expensive for small businesses, so you've really got to make your pennies count. At any rate, I'm sure it's nothing more than a marketing/accounting decision and regardless of the reason, they're a website that appears to be keeping their heads above water when a lot of businesses are going belly up. I've shopped there very recently and was pleased as always, so I wouldn't worry about it.

One thing we should all keep in mind is the way that sponsors keep track of their ad $ and try to track effectiveness.
With an internet business it's very easy to see where your hits are coming from.
So if you're shopping at an internet site, and you want them to know their ad $ are effective, then you should click to that site via the link provided on the website you've seen their advertising on.

So, rather than just type the address in the browser bar, if you want them to continue to advertise on the site you support, then you might want to take the extra minutes to log in, then follow their ad links.
For fabric that might mean logging in here and then clicking on the link to your favorite fabric site, for cooking pans it might mean logging in to Epicurious (or wherever you go for recipes) then following the links back out.
Just a thought.

Marji, that's an excellent way to let the advertisers know PR is important to us. I hadn't followed the advertiser links before, but I will now. It seems especially important given the current economy. Thanks for reminding us.

Great point, Marji. I rarely click on the ad, but usually type in the address bar. I'll make sure to click on the ad when I am again in the market or even just looking for fun. Just looking for fun keeps in my mind who has what, so it's not really a lost cause for the merchant if I don't buy that time. I remember what they have and go back there when I need it.

Just clicked on Michaels to see what he has, and everything on the site is 30% off till the end of December. They have some beautiful Zegna's and every swatch or fabric piece I've gotten from them is wonderful. They are great to sew with without exception IMHO. I am extremely tempted, especially since they still have some double-sided linens.

By clicking on the advertisers who pay Deepika to advertise here, we not only let them know where the clicks are coming from, we help support patternreview.com.
