Just traded for a 2140 pfaff upgraded to a 2170 with very few hours...actually made in Germany...a newbie to embroidery... going to my first & only lesson on this machine, what stablizers to you all use??? I have read posts on this brand or that, but what do each of you recommend that have worked for you????????? If you want to know what projects are planned: monogramming letters on towels, blankets,& the like; DD jeans embroider designs; gifts, holiday stuff and the list goes on & on. Many thanks in advance!!!!!

I have found this to be a Very Good Site for just about anything you need to know about Machine Embroidery.

Congratulations on your new machine. I've had really good lucky with Sulky stabalizers. Everything but sticky (hate that). Joann's has their notion wall on sale next Friday and Saturday 50% off. Makes a great time to stock up.

I, too, have had good luck with Sulky stabilizers. Easy Tear is a light-weight tear-away. Soft'n'Sheer is a non-woven cut-away. If I need heavier stabilization, I probably would go for a couple of layers of these rather than a heavier single layer. I have a whole roll of a super heavy weight stabilizer that both my Brother and Pfaff machines refuse to work with! I also use KK 2000 spray to attach towels/non-hoopable (If that is a word!) items to hooped stabilizer.

Enjoy your machine! I love mine.
