Threads Technique DVDs Vol I & II (Moderated by Deepika)
Posted on: 11/25/08 1:17 PM ET
Has anyone purchased the Threads Techniques DVDs, and if so, what do you think of them? They feature Louise Cutting. I have the Threads Fitting set, and while it is fine, I think it is a bit "minimalist" - meaning they could have beefed up the information. Before I consider the Techniques, I need to hear from sewers I trust!
Thanks!

I watched part 1 last weekend. It was worth it to see how to hem a skirt that I had just finished.

I have attended a couple of 1 hour sessions with Louise Cutting at sewing expo, and am interested that she is involved. I wonder what the return policy is - I am interested in these also.

You might want to look at Smartflix and see if they have those dvds. Many times when I am interested in a sewing dvd, I rent it first from them to see if it is something I would like to then purchase. Much cheaper to rent for about $10 than to buy it and find out that you don't like it.
I have the first dvd that I got as a gift but haven't watched it yet so can't comment on it. I can say that I attended a class that Louise Cutting did and she does a good job and has a lot of good hints and ideas to make garment sewing easier.

I put them on my Christmas wish list at amazon.com. Louise's patterns have the best instructions available anywhere, and include tips and techniques that translate to other patterns beautifully. Even without seeing the DVDs, I'd be willing to bet the information on them is invaluable.

We're looking to collaborate with Sewing DVD's already produced, and provide a service to stream it online to reach a more broader audience.

I have Vol. 1 of this set and think it was worth the money I spent. Louise demonstrates useful techniques and they are well presented.
