I'm trying to be sure that Organ needles would be safe to use in my SE LE. I've searched the boards and see that they're being used in a number of other brands, but the one question on a Viking wasn't answered. Since they're so much more economical, I'd really like to give them a try, but not if there's any chance of damaging my machine. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have you asked your dealer? They might know.

if the needles are a 130/705 then they are the needles to be used in most domestic machines, with the exception of singer which are slightly longer. In my janome, bernina and brother machines i use schmetz, Inspira needles(pfaff/viking) ,janome(organ) and Klasse. It doesn't matter about brand ,only that they are the correct needle for your machine. If you check your manual it probably says 130/705 needle.Which is a flat back needle.
Double check your manual.I mostly use schmetz, because i like them, and they are a quality needle. If it costs me $1 extra to the cost of a garment so be it.

The dealership I work for sells more Organ than any other needle brand. We sell Viking and I use them in my Vikings, needless to say I have lots of machine needles! I really like the titanium needles, they have about 4 times the life of a regular needle. It is the number one selling needle for embroidery machines.

You can use Organ needles, and Kenmore as well in your Viking. I do in mine. Kenmore needles ARE Organ needles, and they are color coded, unlike the packs of Organ needles I have. I love Organ needles and use a lot of them. the Kenmore in the little holders are nice and as I say - color coded which I love, but seems a bit more expensive, though still reasonable. You can use Schmetz as well. Klasse too, but they aren't so readily available - Nancy's Notions sells them though and some of the packs she sells are a good value in needles.

Thanks everyone for your help. I did call the dealer, actually a couple of dealers in the area and they weren't familiar with Organ so couldn't tell me for sure. So I was left not feeling totally comfortable about ordering the Organs. I think I'll go ahead and place the order since I'm starting to run low.

Sorry, but I disagree with this. Compared to the major needle brands like Schmetz, Organ, Muva, Lammertz. etc, Singer needles are crap, and I wouldn't use them in any machine, let alone any of my 20+ Singers. Modern Singer machines (that's all models made in the past 120 years, except for their first series of zig-zaggers) use the same 705 needle that other home machines do.

I agree, the quality of the Singer needles I have tried is horrible. I've had brand new needles that skip stitches on the first seam, some that shred the thread at the eye.
Very poor quality control. I've used Klasse, Organ and Schmetz and haven't had issues with brand new needles like I have with the Singer.
I use mainly Organ and Schmetz needles, in my sewing and embroidery machines and I'm happy with the quality.
