I am trying to gather together the remaining notions that I'll need to make a trenchcoat.. I bought the Burberry fabric and lining last year and now I actually would like to sew it! I have been looking around on the internet for belt buckles. Not much. I didn't get a chance when I was in NYC to take a look and that may be what I'll have to do. So, if you have seen a site that has buckles, or have seen them in the city please let me know. I've seen what MJ has to offer on line and that's not much. E Joyce has some decent metal ones, but I was kind of looking for leather. Real would be nice.
Here's a link to a real Burberry trench coat.

Do these look like metal? here

I think they are metal. This site has an extensive buckle collection. Les Bon Ribbon. It looks like very few of the buckles though have the middle metal thing ... maybe that is something that you can add on. Unfortunately they don't have any leather.

I'd try Pacific trims in the garment district for buckles, if you can wait until you're in the city next. I don't know about leather covered, though.

Nancy, I'll check when I get home. But, I might have a big leather buckle. Are you looking for matching ones for the wrist too?

Yeah, I am and that's part of the problem. When are you sewing yours? Your post about the fabric is what made me buy mine! Did I mention that I bought red cashmere blend for the button out lining? This is still down the list a ways, but I like to have all the pieces ready to go before I start.
Tom, Pacific Trims has a fledgling website up, but the only buckles so far are rhinestone.

Nancy I'm having the same problems finding hardware for my burberry fabric! I've looked at all the pictures on net-a-porter too, and I think some are metal, some are leather. Lindsay T recommended Botani Buttons in NYC for higher end hardware but I would have to try to deal with them over the phone. Good luck and keep us posted!

Nancy, Cleaner's Supply has genuine leather belt buckles in the one and two inch sizes in black, brown and tan.

I would also check out thrift stores. You might be ablr to get a set of lovely buckeles with a coat attached. If yo.u hate the coat you can just trash it or you can use it for something else.

I have been making some belts and thinking about making more..I have been scouring the thrifts for ugly belts with nice buckels and have been somewhat sucessful.

I found a belt buckle I liked at Hot Buckles. I think you are looking for something far more conservative but aren't they fun? Most of the buckles were over the top but I did find one I loved. MJ trims has belt buckles as does Lucy's Fabrics.

Good luck shopping.
