I've never sewn a BWOF and after looking at alot of my BWOF magazines, I think I've found some things I want to sew for this spring. I've been glancing at the instructions and am confused on how to figure out how many yards of fabric needed. Can someone give me some tips on how to figure out the instruction?

For the view you're making, look in the instructions under the "Materials" heading. It will list each fabric that Burda used (and the width) and then how many meters, followed by yards in parentesis. Here's an example from the current Burda magazine for a dress that is in sizes 36,38,40,42,44

Materials:
145 cm (57 in) wide georgette: 2.70 - 2.75 - 2.80 - 2.85 - 3.00 m (3 - 3 1/8 - 3 1/8 - 3 1/4- 3 3/8 yds)

The width of the fabric they used was 57 inches and if you were making the size 40, the third size, you would count over to the third length which would be 3 1/8 yards.
For that particular pattern I got those numbers for there were four fabrics listed with the yardage for each, ribbon with yardage, and then zipper and other notions

I hope that helps--I think if you just read through the instructions of a few items you'll get the format. The instructions may be cryptic sometimes, but they do follow a consistant format.
