When lining a skirt made out of knit that has elastic at the waist, would I simply cut out the lining the same as the skirt pattern, sew right sides together at the waistband, turn right sides out and insert the elastic in between the two layers and stitch being careful not to catch in the elastic?

Would I cut the lining slightly bigger or the same size? Or is there a better way of lining a knit skirt?

You have it right. That should work just fine. Before cutting, check to be you have enough ease in the woven lining though. If not, then you might want to increase the lining, but generally, not.

Just one change. Make sure that you remove the waistband allowance since you won't be making a casing by turning it in. I am making a knit skirt with lining this week too!

Here's a recent tip showing another way to attach the elastic at the top.
