Just hung my beautiful red silk butterfly pleat draperies and the sun shines right through the lining and the silk. Is there anything I can do other than take the pleats apart and insert a flannel interlining and repleat. I really don't want to touch the side seams where the lining is attached to the silk if I don't have to. My concern is that the flannel will add too much bulk

Thanks
Maggie

Since you are already concerned about bulk and do not want to touch your silk..and who would really..I would go for one more treatment behind this one..add one rod with the needed blackout and leave unattached or attach only where absolutely necessary..Sunlight can really fade these terribly and lead to deterioration.. and of course your color will look washed out with the sun coming through.. At this point as they are already sewn and complete I believe this to be your best solution..good luck..

I have read to always interline silk. I'd probably rip 'em apart & add the interlining, but that's just me. It will add years to the life of the draperies, not to mention make them look way more expensive.

Thank you.
I think I'll enjoy them for now and take them apart and interline this winter.
