I just started receiving BWOF this past fall and I already got a notice in the mail to renew my subscription. I'm seriously thinking about not renewing for next year. I find that the majority of the patterns are for someone tall. I have to admit I haven't made one things from any of my issues yet. I'm just wondering, do they start getting kind of repetitive? Just in the short time I've been receiving them, I bet I have at least three blazer patterns that pretty much look alike. I know it's cheaper buying the subcription for $80 than just purchasing one particular issue, for example, off of Ebay but I thought about previewing each month's issue or if I see something here that someone has made that I like, I'd buy just that one issue here, if someone is offering it for sale, or off of Ebay. Does anyone have my same thought regarding this?

Have you tried doing a petite adjustment on the patterns that are too tall?

This page here shows exactly where & how much to shorten a Burda regular size pattern to turn it into a Burda Petite pattern. :)

I will not be renewing it this year but I will do so next year. I think that in one year I get enough patterns to keep me busy for the next two years without loosing interest.

I will always renew unless they drastically change their magazine. I love the eye-candy and I make about 3 things from each issue. Well, my goal is three. I have made as many as five items and as few as two from each issue. I'm a bit of a Burda-phile.

I'm still trying to decide whether to subscribe or not. Halleyscomet when you say the majority of the patterns are for someone tall, are you meaning that the styles don't look good on someone short? I'm 5'2" and blocky, and the photos in the magazine don't appeal to me at all. It's not until the folks here on PR start making them up that I can visualize what they look like on real women. Then I find myself interested in several patterns that I wouldn't have looked at twice otherwise

That was my plan, too, but I've now bought three straight months so I'm thinking I should subscribe at least for awhile...

I took it about 4 years but didn't renew last time - just because I wasn't using it enough and don't have much storage space. However, I looked through a bunch of issues this weekend and there is a lot of stuff I would like to make. I'm taking Ottobre Woman now - only two issues a year. I really like both Burda and Ottobre.

I guess alot of the styles just aren't my style. And storage too is an issue. I do know how to do a petite adjustment because I already to that when purchasing the big four patterns so that's no big deal.

I just started a subscription in January. Did I half year on because I had bought 3 or 4 month in a row. I like my subscription it really get my sewing muse going. My hope is to try to complete 2 or 3 items per issue. I figure by doing that it really close to paying for itself. I try to make the peices I chose fight into my life style so I choose fabric and notions to reflect that.

I sometimes have a subscription, sometimes not. This has been going on for about 12 years...

I do find a lot of duplication in styles when you look at several months in a row.

But I've never regretted buying the issues that I do have.

This may be because I tend to find that I like the patterns a lot better about a year or two after publication... (I guess it takes that long for my eye to adjust and see the pattern behind the photo...)

I've renewed every year since 1997. No regrets here.
