It is a light weight cotton. The pattern called for fabric with elastane or not. I decided to cut the light weight denim cotton on bias.
The neck is basted and so is the inside facing.

Why is it bunching up on the back??
Can it be fixed or I have to start the yoke all over?
What do I do???

This dress does not have enough hip-wide at the back, so you can let out the side seams which would help if you have some spare seam allowances left.

Bias cut garments continues to stretch so getting longer and narrower, that’s why you need to add wider seam allowances when you cut at the bias.

I don't want it to open wide on the hip area. I want it to follow the curves of my body like a tank dress.

I do have more fabric to play with. Should I remove tha back yoke and cut one in the straight grain then???

I agree with ELS. I would open some room in the hips. They are not allowing the material to fall, it's just sitting on top of your hips. Once you get that to lay right, you can probably get a better idea of the bodice(I think that's what you are callinga Yoke). If this was not meant to be cut on the bias, then that's part of what your bodice problem is. Perhaps try cutting a new bodice and see what happens. There is just too much material in this one.

Bias cut is not the same as a stretch fabric. They stretch differently. If you don't want to keep tweaking, you might be better off finding a pattern for a similar dress that's cut on the bias.

It's not an issue of following your curves; it's an issue of not having enough space for your curves. This is what els & JTink are saying. They aren't suggesting you change the style. But you have to work with this style to get it to fit properly.

My suggestion would be 1st open up the side seams to let it fall where it is supposed to fall. You really won't be able to tell how the bodice fits while it is bunched up. It is hard to tell, but you might have too much width in the top of the dress. But until it falls correctly, you can't be certain.

My guess (and it is only a guess!!! ) is that you have too much width in the bodice & waist area, plus perhaps a shorter torso than the pattern allows for. And you have a wider & higher hip than the pattern allows for. (Sounds like me on that one.)

I'm not an expert on fitting, but I think the fit on the bottom half looks good as it is, actually, and I wouldn't make it wider there. I think it is just too wide in the bodice section. I agree with what someone else said about it maybe needing shortening at the waist (I have this issue too.)

AnneM put perfectly what occurred to me after studying your photo.

The suggestion to find a similar pattern for a woven fabric and cut on whatever grain it suggests is another way to go.
