My great-grandmother called me last night. She's 88, I believe. She was a quilter, before cataracts and arthritis made it too hard for her. She has a double wedding ring quilt that's still on the frame, with just two rows that still need to be quilted. She offered me the unfinished quilt and the quilting frame, which is turns out my great-grandfather made for her. I didn't know my great-grandfather had made the frame for her; I assumed it was store-bought. He died in 1962 or 1963 (my dad was a baby), so the frame must be at least 50 years old.

I am so honored that she wants me to have them. When I finished my first little lap quilt, I sent it to her for Christmas. She's pretty tickled that one of her grandchildren finally took after her!

I wish I had pictures, but unfortunately I don't. And I have to figure out how to get it from central Missouri to Texas...and figure out where in my little house to put it!

That is quite an honor. That quilt frame is probably one of her most cherished possessions that she wants to go to the person who would appreciate it's intrinsic value. And luckily that's you.
Congratulations.

Sounds like a good time for a road trip.

That is truly so touching. It brought back so many memories of my grandmother.
