I got a phone call three days ago and was asked if I wanted a full time aide position at my dd's school for a young man who is handicapped. I had not even applied for a full time position. I have substituted for three years at their school and have worked with this young man several times in the past.

Now I am going to have to break down and finally start sewing for myself because I don't have enough clothes for a full time position. My DH has only been able to work two to three days a week since the first of the year and things have been real rough. So, we are both so very thankful for this opportunity. It will help our family out so much.

Needless to say we all are very excited and thankful.

Carmen, you obviously impressed them during your time as a substitute, and they're probably delighted that you are available to accept this position. Here's hoping that this marks the start of a less stressful time for your family. Congratulations on your new job and good luck with the sewing.

I bet this child's family will be grateful to have you work full-time. One-on-one work is so satisfying. That's when you can see progress and know you made it happen.

You must be very special. Not everyone can do the type of work you are about to take on full time. I just see so much excitement and new beginnings happening in your life right now. Congratulations So, what's the first thing you are going to make for yourself?

Congratulations on the job. I am sure the young man will benefit from consistent one to one help.

A very good friend of my mil is a Special Ed Teaching assistant and had the same child for about 5 years. She developed a strong bond with the boy who had brittle bones and was confined to a wheelchair.

She has since moved to another child, but does not know if she will be with the same child in Sept when school starts again.

It takes a special person to work with our special kids, thank you for being one.

Thank you all so much. I am looking forward to this school year now. I know this young man personally so, that makes it a little easier.

Now, I have got to get busy with my new school clothes. I have planned some new shirts (will have to learn to do a FBA) and some pants. I 'm not a skirt or dress person so I probably won't make any of those.

I also have to make both dd's some new clothes also. We have all picked out several patterns already, and have a bunch more to look through.

Have fun making the clothes. What an exciting thing! It must be so gratifying to be offered a job because they want YOU. And especially when your family needs the income. And you'll be contributing in a very meaningful way to this boy's life, and to society. Congratulations!
