I have seen several people going around with what looks like a sunburn on their faces lately. I have heard is is some sort of facial procedure that is either light or laser and it reduces the sun damage and makes the skin's surface smother. Anyone know what it is called? I think it runs around $600 but not sure. And you have to stay out of the sun for a few weeks I think.
Looking for something not too expensive that will reduce sun damage, and make the pores smaller.
Anyone?

I have seen this reported on on the news channels..appeared legitimate..but of course I do not believe they can guarantee certain results..I could be wrong.
I do know they try similar treatments for patients with facial scars due to acne and such.
Essentially it is burning off the top layers of your facial tissue to get down to newer skin. So of course you would not want to expose the new skin to the sun..you would burn and also have sun damage to the new skin.
I do not know what it runs cost wise..that may change from local to local

This rings a bell from a documentary I saw last winter about cosmetic surgery. I think it may be a chemical peel (?).

It may be Intense Pulsed Light therapy or IPL for short. No lasers are involved; IPL uses a different wave length. Here's a bit of a rundown on it.
I've had it done for blotchy red spots and so-called "broken" capillaries (they're dilated, not broken) on my very fair skin, and it worked quite well for me. It stings very slightly, no big deal at all. My skin was slightly reddish the next day, but no worse than the mildest sunburn. You are supposed to protect your skin from the sun afterwards, but that's the rule nowadays anyhow. The effects, though fairly long-lasting, are not permanent, and if you're prone to blotchiness, etc, you may have to return every now and then.
One odd effect of the treatment, and one that is sometimes touted on its own, is that the treated skin can become much more fine-grained and youthful looking for several years. I did experience this.

That's it I think Elona! A girl that went to school w DD had it and also several other people that I know are avid golfers--they had to stay off the course for a while.
I am wondering what effect it would do for sun damage?
DD is possibly going to be having some surgery this winter. After 12 years of playing softball, she has what is I would consider beyond freckles on her forehead and some on her cheeks, nose etc. I just thought if the cost was something she could afford, maybe she could have it near the time of her surgery since it will be Winter, she will be indoors a lot plus she is done with softball unless she plays in adult rec league (I think--she may try to walk on at the university next year-she was recruited there but at the time they had a --well--not so great coach so she declined. It was a good decision on her part because they stunk and coach was KOO KOO
.)
Anyway I will look into it. Thanks again. I hate it when I can't remember names!

DH's niece had a dermabrasion performed on her face for large pores. If I remember she was required to stay out of the sun for a few years. You should check with an MD regarding this, of course. If she still plays sports, it may interfere.
