I am making some Christmas presents for the family and wanted a resource for high quality polar fleece (like Patagonia fleece), I've seen the offerings at Joanns, and I don't like it, I have the impression it will start to pill after a few washings.

Has anyone found a good supplier online?

The best fleece is from the retail arm of "Malden Mills" (former employees), maker of Polartec. They have stock and closeouts.. You can buy swatches, and the prices are OK. Good service.

Marcy Tilton has a few colors of Patagonia micro fleece in her knits section.

I'd love to find some quality polar fleece as well. I tried the link but it won't work for me

Thanks, Michelle

Pacific Fabrics is based here in in the Northwest somewhere and they recently acquired a bunch of "leftover" fleece from Patagonia. According to the email from Pacific Fabrics (sent in late Sept/early October), Patagonia discontinued some line or other and sold their raw materials off to Pacific Fabrics. I don't think Pacific Fabrics sells online BUT all this is to say that there is Patagonia-quality Polartec fleece floating around out there so you might come across some. I bought some of their medium-weight fleece and made myself a jacket with it. It's gorgeous stuff. They had great fall colors, too: brown, rust, teal, loden green...

Good luck!

I ended up ordering it from Marcy Tilton, they had a micro fleece from Patagonia, it's a little thinner and since this is my first fleece project, I thought it will be a little easier to work with... keeping fingers crossed. I tried Pacific, but as you said they don't sell online.

Now I'm reading through the old threads on how to handle fleece.
