Use to stabilize slippery fabrics on cutting table (Moderated by EleanorSews)

I ran across 2 pair of rubber-coated 2- and 3-pound dumbbells among some workout equipment that no one was using (Hmmm)... and found that by placing them at intervals along the edges or ends of a shifty slippery fabric, I could prevent the layers from sliding off grain while pinning my pattern to the fabric. It also kept the fabric from sliding off the end of the table where the excess yardage hung over. I left the wights in place while I cut out the pattern. Having the fabric "planted" really made cutting out the pattern easier. The fabric did not crawl away from the scissors, or slide around as much as without the weights. I plan to use these weights as regular tools in my sewing room. I should add that my dumbbells do not roll away- they have sort of hexagon-shaped ends so they stay where you put them.
