So today, having taken a day off from work, I decided to get up off my lazy clicky-finger, and drive out to Fabricana in Richmond. Considering the Olympics being on, the traffic wasn't too bad. Although some of it was deeply dumb (as in non-driving fools!).

By the way, dear pedestrians...just because it's frowned on for us to mow you down when you cross against the lights, doesn't mean we CAN'T mow you down when you cross against the lights.

Anyhoo, I hit the jackpot! The motherlode of fabrics!!! I've been searching for yonks for jersey/lycra and matching ribbing. Boy did I find jersey/lycra and matching ribbing!!! And 56 yards of the stuff came home with me!

I got the entire bolt of the most gorgeous teal/peacocky blue cotton/lycra jersey, with the (entire bolt of) matching cotton/lycra ribbing. And (the entire bolt of) medium charcoal jersey/lycra with the (entire bolt of) matching ribbing. (La Mia Boutique cardi-to-die-for, (Feb 2010 pattern #29) you are so MINE!)

And some smokey-grey-blue rayon/lycra jersey and some charcoal/silvery-grey/peacock print rayon/lycra jersey, and 26 yards of grid pattern tracing paper. It took 3 staff to carry my haul to my car (and me 4 trips to carry from car to condo).

I have absolutely nowhere to put all this (56 YARDS??! That's more yardage than my apartment has! Am I INSANE??! Rhetorical question, never mind!)

Oh yeah, they also had some gorgeous RPL bottomweights on for 50% off, so I grabbed 6 yards of charcoal.

If anyone else is interested, Fabricana also has French terry, jogging fleece, and doubleknit dyed to match all the jerseys and ribbings. Don't bother with the Richmond store though. They don't have much of a selection.

Now.

Wow Lynn, that's great (isn't it?). I have some of that blue cotton/lycra jersey, I made a Kwik Sew top from it and I love it. It is such a saturated color and gets complements every time. I am so glad that they had charcoal jersey and ribbing for you. I knew they had it, at least the Abbotsford one did before it closed. The Langley Fabricland is a bit of a mess right now. They really neglect their activewear section. They had a ton of synthetic fabric until I wandered over towards the quilting section and then I saw a bunch of cotton blends (including some wonderful cotton/silk). Some were so badly labeled. Cotton lawn the weight of a heavy twill etc.

Glad you scored, sorry you're broke. KD or soup for dinner for the next month I guess.

I don't suppose you'd enlighten us non-Canadians as to what KD, would you?! I'm dying of curiosity!

As to your score, you know ... you could always sell some of it to us non-Fabricana-gifted-Yanks, yannow.

No? Well ... *sigh* enjoy your score then!!!

Will we be seeing pics of what you do with all that yardage? How long will it take you to use it all up?!

Hope I'm not coming off as snarky. Insanely jealous, yes (YES!!!!), but hopefully snarky, no!!!

Snark!!! Run away! Run away!

Nah, you don't sound snarky at all (I love that word..."snark". Oh snark me! Oh I like that one.)

KD = Kraft Dinner = Kraft mac & cheese.

Nope, not selling a single scrap.

Pics depend on if & when I learn how to use my digi camera...I've already forgotten how to use my Blackberry so am relearning that, lol!

It likely won't take me all that long to use, within this year, certainly. On average, I sew 1-2 knit tops during the week (weekends are for working on my bigger projects, jackets, cardis, jeans, suits etc. Knit tops are my workweek evening munchies.)

But first is going to be that La Mia Boutique cardi...I've been dreaming night after night about that cardi!

KD is what Canadian's call Kraft Dinner, or packaged Macaroni and Cheese. The long time source of nutrition for starving students.

Lynn just do not buy KD and Mr. Woos' food at the same time, the clerk will think you are eating cat tuna with your KD

Lynn I guess with your big purchase you are not likely to be coming to Victoria for the sewing show? It is in two weeks.

Lynn where or where are you going to put all that fabric? Do you have a big desk drawer at work that you could stash some in?

I have to admit I have been looking at the boardroom table at my work and thinking if I could raise it up about 8 inches it would be perfect for a cutting table.
