I am currently making this Chanel type jacket .
M6041

As a practice run to before better fabrics are in play...I decided to quilt the lining to the fashion fabric ---Chanel style---and then use hong kong finish (two new techniques for me at once!) for the inside seam finish. Needless to say I am not following the pattern instructions which have a traditional loose lining. I am trying to avoid as much hand sewing as possible because of joint issues in my hands.

So far so good, until I get to the armscye. I have inserted the sleeves and now what?....I have searched online, searced the boards and looked at my RTW that has hong king finshed seams (they serged the armscye seam) to see what is the best solution. Should I....
1) use HK finish on the bodice and sleeve seam separately.
2) use HK finish to bind both seam allowances together.
3) just run it through the serger and serge the seam allowances together.

I realize I could do any or all three of the above, but was wondering what you sewing divas would recommend....Thanks

I would probably do a Hong Kong finish incorporating the sleeve and bodice at one. Amanda's Adventures in Sewing can give you more advice on how she does that. I can't wait to see it!
