Is it OK to sell designs? (Moderated by Pyrose)

I have an embroidery design CD that I bought and do not like. I just wondered if it was OK to sell them or is there some rule about not selling them once you open them?

Ada,
I guess it depends on the software aggreement that's usually included in the package. When you open the sealed package, it sometimes says, "by opening this package, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this agreement".
In the absence of that, I don't see any reason why you can't. You bought it and paid for it, most companies are only worried about you copying their designs and selling them, or stitching out a million shirts or purses with the design, and selling those.
The only thing I wasn't able to sell, was my Click and Stitch software, it has a password/key to install it, and you only get ONE. If your computer crashes or you buy a new one, you have to call the company and get a new one, giving all your personal info, firstborn child, etc. It was a hassle, but understandable.
I've sold plenty of embroidery cards on Ebay and no problems.

Thanks Cheri,
I want to sell "Rosie Takes Dolly A Long" by Michell's Designs. I will find the pkg and see what the small print says.

You must also erase any of those designs that may be on your computer on in your embroidery machine.

This is very interesting topic - I have many designs in sets, and individual that I will never use and would like to sell - I was always under the understanding that this could not be done? Are there restrictions on certain designs?
