can anyone recommend how to modify my favorite gored pattern for elastic waist? (alternatively an elastic waist gored pattern (with casing)

Would the fabric be knit or woven?

Its all a matter of making sure, the skirt can stretch enough or is big enough at the waist to go over your hips.

thanks for reminding me, I forgot to add the fabric is a firmer woven. And I have a TNT pattern which still fits at the hips and downward. My waist is just "stretched out"

should I just draw the gores straight up from the hips to the height of the original waistband, then add a separate elastic waistband/casing?

Which would still keep the hemline shape which I like, or do I risk ending up with an uneven hemline due to a tilted waist? This pattern has back, front and side gores.. (Neue Mode ???)

I'm giving it a try. I like this pattern because the front and back gores are wider. The pattern is more flattering IMHO because the final product seems to drape smoother in areas which don't need any extra bulk (especially now), but still swishes nicely at the sides.

Why don't you want a zipper? I think part of the beauty of a 6 gore skirt is the lovely slim fit at the waist.

I'm one of those who hates putting in zippers and always changes out to an elastic waistband. Also since I'm close to 50 and find comfort trumphs style always!
