Posted on: 5/18/10 6:31 PM ET
I got an e-mail from JKM Ribbon that they are celebrating their new website and are having a 45% off sale that will end tomorrow. So, if anyone uses lots of ribbon now might be the time to stock up. I ordered a couple of rolls of petersham. full disclosure: I have never ordered from them before. Orders need to be over $50. Details on their home page. NAYY

That's a great price on the Petersham! But large quantities.... besides waistbands, what do you use Petersham for?

Well, I've made a couple of hats and I used petersham as the sweatband (or headband? not sure what it's officially called). I've also used it to stabilize waistbands and I'd like to make a couple of rosettes and experiment ornamentally with it, too. I also made a pair of white linen pants too short once and happened to have some petersham at the time that I used to make the hem more interesting (and long enough!). I got basic colors so I don't have to run off to my local fabric store (which I'm lucky enough to live close to and it does carry petersham!) to get something in a pinch.

I have ordered twice from them. The first time they refunded my purchase after 6 weeks with a rather cryptic message- something like items ordered not offered anymore (despite them still showing on the website). My second order is still pending, after well over the stated 3 weeks.
Any tips from people who have ordered from them before?
In fairness, they did refund my credit card when they cancelled the order, but I actually need some of those items for actual planned projects.

Hmmmm...I got an e-mail from them late last night saying it would be at least 4 weeks before my order ships. That's fine but there was no indication of that when I placed the order. Time will tell....

Just a word of warning---I somehow signed up or got signed up
for their newsletter and now I get an enormous amount of email from them. At least one or two a day, sometimes many more than that...

Waiting six weeks or whatever for my order doesn't bother me because I can plan for that. Cancelling it after those six weeks does bother me. Because they did refund my purchase promptly and because there are generally good comments on PR, I am willing to give them another try. This is the my try however.

I can understand that especially if you are ordering for upcoming projects.
I didn't realize it but there is a tab under the items that I ordered that explained their shipping, timing, etc.
And thank you Heidi for the heads up on the e-mails. I've gotten their newsletter for some time now but I must only be 'subscribed' at a certain level so I only get a couple of e-mails a week from them - thankfully!
