Just noticed that Fashion Fabrics Club (fashionfabricsclub.com) has a bundle with 10 pounds of fabric for $19.95, plus about $7 for me where I live.

1) Are the fabrics good?
2) How do they compare to the bundles you would get at fabricmartfabrics.com?
3) About how many yards of fabric would a random mix of 10 pounds be?

That sounds like a pretty awesome deal if the fabrics are truly nice and the yardage is good. Because the shipping is per actual weight instead of a flat fee as with fabricmartfabrics.com, you can't really buy several bundles at once to save on shipping, so I'd probably just get one and see how it worked out if the feedback is good. I noticed that on their site they sell lots of fabrics by the piece, at a reduced rate but not nearly as low as bundle prices, so I'm wondering how good the bundles can really be.

I've liked the bundles I've gotten from them. I think I've gotten 3 of them and, while some of the fabrics are just ok, some are beautiful. I'm sewing along with the wardrobe contest and scrounged a 3 yard piece of linen from a mystery box that I'll be using for pants and jacket.

The last bundle I got had 3 cuts of camo fabric, which my husband thought was cool.

I figure even if I get one or two chunks that are garment worthy, I can use the rest for muslins and it'll be worth it. My kids like to play with what I don't love too.

If I had to guess, I'd say there's probably around 20 yards per bundle.

Thanks for the feedback. I have always had the impression that people with diverse family members to sew for can make the best use of bundles.

When you mentioned camo fabric, I thought, "Wow. I would have no use for that at all." But, then I remembered that my teenage son would be going to college in a year, and camo fabric would be perfect for making three laundry bags for his closet--jeans, whites/towels, and colored shirts and pants.

So, if a bundle is about 20 yards, with shipping to my home, that would make it about 1.35 per yard for me, dirt cheap, and cheaper than FM.

When you say "okay," do you mean that the colors or styles aren't you, or are you talking about quality? I'm okay if the colors are not all my colors because I can sew for others and also use them as bottoms instead of tops, but if the quality is low, I might stick with my usual sources.

No, not necessarily low quality, just not my bag! They do seem to give you a nice combination of different weaves and types of fabric in each box. I've gotten one bundle from FabricMart and I didn't like it as well.

Thanks! I had the same experience with FM my first time and I made it no secret, but when I eventually tried again, I was so pleased that I've become a sudden and consistent addict and have never again been disappointed. Looking back, the fabrics I didn't like in the first bundles would have been a bonanza for someone with different tastes. They were very expensive looking and large pieces. I just don't like brown and beige. NAYY
