I tried to search this board but failed to find what I needed. So thought I'd ask for your help. Just wondering what name of knit fabric is best for sewing embellished shirts? I'm referring to those kinds that are sold at J. Crew but something less flimsy and would nicely support some embellishments like beads or appliques. Will appreciate any help.

Maybe if you post a picture it would help. I'm not sure but if you check the Emma One Sock site you may find some useful ideas.

Hi Sharon, I tried posting an image but it won't come out properly. Anyway, the shirts I'm talking about are just regular tees but are sewn with additional embellishments afterwards, like chiffon ribbon shaped into flowers, etc.

Perhaps you could go to the Anthropology site, whose tees are unbelievably lovely, and read their fabric descriptions, and then go from there.
