Hi Everyone!
I am looking to buy an industrial machine do to the amount of sewing I do and I have a lot of requests for upholstery. I have my eye on an Omega on Ebay, and I wanted to know if anyone has one or knows anything about them at all. I did a search here, and it seems like the places that sell them are in Canada and after looking at the label, it is made n Japan.
Are all those cool pictures on the listing a gimmick? That is what some past comments have been. This model is an 8500, and it comes with a walking foot--something I need for sewing upholstery. It seems like such a deal, considering the amount of feet, and it's an all metal machine. But it seems hardly anyone here has one.
Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully, somebody can answer your questions regarding this model. I think the Omega name has been used on several different machines. As I remember, some using the Omega name were Necchi and some Euro Pro. I don't know of any industrial Omega's. I think several years ago, Euro Pro did move their home base to Canada.
Sometimes machines are advertised as industrial because they state that they have an all metal interior but usually the machines do not have the power or the speed of a true industrial machine.
I do hope you get the answers you need and I hope the machine you decide upon will suit your sewing needs.

If these are the machines I see on eBay from the Quebec seller, they are Necchis I believe, and they are NOT industrial machines, though probably good solid home sewing machines, and NO home sewing machine is an INDUSTRIAL. That is misleading. it is sad to see so many machines advertised that way on eBay....eBay's motto, as far as I am concerned is "Let the Buyer Beware." At least the buyer needs to do some research and know a bit more than the sellers are telling you. If you Google Necchi Omega, you can find sites with pictures. Here in the US Necchis are sold by dealers exclusively and are not supposed to be sold on the internet. My local sewing guy sells them and they are Asian made solid modern machines like Janome, Elna, etc. Most of the Necchis are somewhat more tough mechanicals, and have vertical bobbins, although they sell some that are clones of Janomes as well and some computerized and those have drop in bobbins and the usual wide feet and stitch width capability. I like the machines I have seen in my tech's shop.
