I was looking at a Russian site and found this adorable top. I'd like to make it with the underneath shirt part of the outer top so it stays up. The boat-neck is a simple part but the wide neck with draping is where I have a question. The rushing is a simple problem. Should the portion from the waist up be wide and shaped more like a triangle as far as the pattern is concerned? Thanks for your help!

Yes, the top of this pattern (for the front only, unless you will be attaching the two at the shoulders) will be wider, to form the cowl (downward drape). The pattern will also be longer so that you can gather the sides to form the gathering or pleating from side to side. Just find a drapey knit to make this top from, a cotton may "grab" the bottom t-shirt fabric and it won't drape properly.
There's a LMB t-shirt that has this same effect and from the pattern length I had thought it was a dress. It stopped a little beyond the hip.

Nice top. The lower part of the sleeves look as if they are attached to the upper, so I believe it is just an insert attached to an overtunic. If I were to make something like this, I would want to make two completely separate pieces, making the innertop end at my waist line, or a little above, using very light weight knit fabric, and attach them at the shoulder to keep the overblouse in place.
