During the Christmas shopping madness, I bought a ribbon box at Target, in the giftwrap department. It's a semi-clear shoebox-shaped gadget that is flat when you buy it, but snaps together with gripper snaps, and has metal-rimmed openings on one side. The idea is that you put rolls of ribbon in the box and feed the ends through the openings so the ribbon is kept clean, organized and easy-to-use. Well, I'm post giftwrap fever now, and I decided that instead I could use the box for sewing stuff. I loaded it with rolls of the wider elastic that I use often, and I'm so happy with the tidy appearance that I'm going back to Target for more of them for narrow elastic, Steam-a-Seam, Staytape, twill tape - all the things that create a tangled mess near my sewing machine and ironing board. I'm very pleased with the appearance; Martha would be so proud.....

I have seen similar type boxes in one of those zillion catalogs that come in the mail and thought they were inventive, but I had not considered them for my sewing room. Target here I come!
Thanks for the idea.

Like Miss Frizzle says "Take chances, make mistakes ..." isn't that what fitting is all about? I am happily taking chances and making mistakes as I fit muslin after muslin ...

Sounds like a great idea! Visting PR is becoming rather expensive for me. I have purchased quite a few notions and such as a result. The good thing is that they are very useful items. I will have to check this out.

Well, my plan might have to change. My Target doesn't have any more of these boxes, and I couldn't find anyone who knew whether they would ever be in stock again. I'll have to check out some craft stores, party stores, places like that...Darn! I really like Target's version!

Forget what I said. I found some at another Target store - and darn near cleaned out their supply. I'm happy again...
