I know it may not new in this fabric forum. But I'm lost in the PR information ocean as I could not find any where to know what types or names of current fabrics. There are tons of them I don't know. Fabricland couldn't give out a specific name of so many fabric materials. I got problem to choose what exactly type of my used fabrics for reviews.

Anybody can help? I really appreciate your helps!

Thanks,

Fabric.com has a fabric glossary on their website. Does that help?

There's a fabric glossary here, too:

Pattern Review Fabric Glossary

Though, if you can get it (I believe that a new edition's just been released), as Mom to 5 said, Claire Schaeffer's "Fabric Sewing Guide" is an invaluable resource!!

A few years ago I purchased " Fabric Savvy" by Sandra Betzina. A very good pictorial book on fabric. She tells you what size needle, foot and stitch to use for each type. I still haven't used all the fabric she discusses but when in doubt I do a quick check to be sure I am using the right equipment.

The All about Wool/Silk/Cotton series offered by Rainy City Publishing are wonderful. They are pricey but helpful with fabric descriptions and a sample swatch of each type of textile. NAYY

Thanks to everyone for posting. I so needed a book like one of these. This has been my biggest problem. I usually choose the wrong fabric for the project I want to do. The information will really help. Thanks!!!
