What is the typical lenght of pre -packed jelly rolls. (Moderated by Sharon1952)

I love how some of the pre-packaged jelly rolls have such pretty contrasting colors and I think this would help me when I put together a small quilt . They are rolled up to show all the colors but I wondered how long each strip is and are they pretty standard at quilting stores.

I think they are 40 to 42 inches long.

Jellyrolls are cut on the cross-grain from salvage to salvage by 2.5 inches. Sometimes when I use jellyrolls for piecing certain block elements and want to be sure the grain of the fabric is on the edge of the block, I will mark it with a silk pin parallel to the grain.
