I'll second the endorsement for Threads! An outstanding educational resourse. I also get Taunton Press subscriptions for Fine Gardening and I love their quality of publication.

Threads is the best thing out there if you're interested in beautiful sewing.

I'd be interested in hearing others' opinions of "Sew News." I've read lots of "Threads" issues, but I'm not familiar with SN's format/content.

I love "Threads" for technique and tips (and their web content is fantastic), but the pattern reviews leave me wanting (they don't show the completed garments/muslins the testers made), and I've yet to see a featured project I'd actually make. The demonstrated garments tend to be a little too unusual for my taste.

I will be the odd one out & vote for Sew News. I like the basic approach & sometimes they include free patterns which I really like! I also found their customer service...though at first lacking...definitely quality when it comes to correcting subscription issue missed....they added 4 free issues for the problem!
I do not know if you like history, but I also like Piecework...it has some old patterns, info on Victorian & european styles from beginning of century (1890 & beyond) ...an interesting article recently on the fashion during the time of Jane Austen & some patterns she made herself. ...... Those are my picks......

Threads! I canNOT stand the way Sew News phrases things--they put a huge string of adjectives before they get to the noun, and it's just ridiculous! By the time you get to the noun in the sentence, you've forgotten what you were reading about. I hate it. I will never subscribe to that mag again.
