I really need 2011 to be more positive. For my mental well being if nothing else. I don't call these resolutions, but plans

1. communicate and reach out more to friends and family
2. do not keep score (you know, what did I get compared to what I gave)
3. recognize that everyone has their own burdens, life is not easy
4. think of what I have to be happy about as I have my morning coffee

I know this sounds maybe a bit corny but I just need to get myself more positive after unemployment, family discord has taken its toll

Kathy, your plan for how to meet 2011 on a more level playing field sounds smart to me. It always seems to me that taking the time to see what is happening to others around us helps to put our own lives into perspective.

My heroes and role models have always tended to be people who could find the positive in life and this has influenced my own modus operandi over the years. When DD was little and seemed destined to be a complainer, we started the bedtime ritual of "3 things in your life to be thankful for" with no repetition over the course of a month. within a few days, she would ask whichever parent was putting her to bed for their "3 things". It was an interesting period in our home because DH & I were on the same page about seeing what was positive first. So now, as I begin a new year that will hold many firsts for me, I do so with the foundation of all those wonderful years behind me.

My plan for 2011 ~ embrace my journey.

Not corny at all! Sounds like a wonderful plan to me! I had already told myself that I want to work on being more positive in both my thoughts and responses to life happenings. I really like your list.

Happy New Year!
