I was in a spotlight store today and came across a range of satin by the name of 'Monroe Satin' i think the word 'vintage' was in the tittle as well. It was going for $4 a metre and would have snapped it up if they weren't out of the colour i wanted.

Problem is, i can't find any sort of reference to this satin at all on the web....so i'm stumped.

Perhaps it is a name the manufacturer gave to that satin in their line. It could be a reference to Marilyn Monroe.

I agree, it sounds like a manufacturer's name for their line.
You could ask the staff at Spotlight if there is something in particular you wanted to know about it, but I would guess for that price it was 100% polyester satin. Google "satin" to learn about what that means - it is a particular weave which results in a shiny surface to the fabric.
