need some advice (Moderated by Deepika)

Hi all
Firstly I want to say thanks to everyone thats given me some excellent help on my wedding project so far. Its really beginning to come together.
My next part is the beading for the dresses (wedding gown and 2 bridesmaids)
Patterns and fabric is chosen, but I really dont want plain gowns. Ive never attempted to put beading onto a garmet before so I need some advice. Ive been looking a tons of dresses and I think I have a very good idea of what I want, but my problem is which colour bead and how many????
My dress will be ivory and the bridesmaids are bronze. I want the beading to be noticeable but in your face. Ive been looking at bugle and seed beads.
All I seem to do is ask for help but i really dont want to make a pigs ear of it all.

I use a beading needle that is very thin and flexible when I bead garments. I use a thin lingerie thread double strand. Your other option is to look at trims that are pre-beaded and then you can make your own designs from that.

Take a look at Fine Embellishment Techniques by Jane Conlan. It has an extensive section on beading garments.

Suo ergo maledicto
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. - Steve Jobs

Could you refresh my mind on what type of lace you are using? I've done several with bugle beads and small pearls but it depends on what type of lace. Could you post a photo?

hi Silknmore,
The beading is going straight onto the dress. Its taffeta.
There is lace on the dress but I'm not sure if I'm beading that yet.
