For many years I have used a clamp-on lamp that has a circular lens in the center, very useful for seeing fine things. The lamp was attached near my sewing machine The lamp itself worked well, but the clamp would loosen over time, and the extension arm would loosen as well. The clamp has finally broken, so it's time to get a new one, and I am looking for recommendations.

I am familiar with the Ott Lites, and assume people might recommend those. There have been lots of changes and improvements in technology, though, and I don't want to ignore those, like the possibility of getting an LED lamp, which would be very energy efficient and would run cooler.

ideally I'd like a floor lamp, or a (better quality) clamp-on lamp. A glass lens would be good, as I understand the plastic ones can scratch easily. 2-3* magnification, at least. Good quality light, but not so concerned with the "true color" aspect, which I think is the ott-lite claim to fame.

I see lots of possibilities on Amazon, but hoping for a sew-ists recommendation... thanks!
