This is just something I learned this weekend. Even after 7 years with this machine. I was doing some words for embroidery and saving them as embroidery files. and in two of them were commas. When I wrote them to the card I just named them what they were, "word,". Well when I put the card in is said couldn't read, bad data. I've never had that happen before. First thought was the card is bad as it's 7 years old but was showing other files on the card. But no, it was the comma after the word that I had named the file. The lightbulb went on when I tried saving design to another embfolder. You can't use symbols or special characters in file names. So just a little nugget of info.

I save downloads to an Embroidery folder and found that when renaming a file you cannot have spaces or punctuation. Just one of those "foggy" days!

I never had this before as I was just naming it what it said. Interesting this is that it did save it as that but embroidery machine wouldn't read it. It show on my card etc. Just glad it didn't take me 15 hours to figure it out. I was using the Janome easy edit program and I still think even after 7 years this is the easiest way to do letters. But you are limited in fonts. I have the Embird font engine but not always liking the results from that and it's harder to used and to get everything the same size.

I wasa re-readng my Brother 780D manual today and it does indeed say the same thing. Any _underscore or symbols will cause the design not to tansfer properly. I will have to go back into my copmputer downloaded files and rename them then transfer again to USB.
