I am trying to help a friend sell a Brother 8500D Embroidery/Sewing Machine. She bought it about 6 years ago but it is in great condition. She has all the parts, foots and hoops that came with it. Does anyone have a clue what would be a fair price for this?

Check out the embroidery machine reviews by clicking the link to the left side of the page in the reddish brown box. Click on Brother and scroll down until you see that model. Most reviews say how much they paid for it and when. You could also go on e-Bay and see of they are selling any. Hope this helps.

I have the Brother 8500 and am keeping mine. Makes great button holes, sews beautifully, and embroiders too. Largest hoop is 5x7 which is big enough for me.
Haven't a clue on what its worth but I paid over $4K new for it including PE design software. Maybe $1000.

My Aunt just traded her Brother 8500D machine for a new Ellisimo and they gave her $750. It was in excellent condition and barely used, but having to use the "magic box" to transfer designs was a drawback. It seems everyone wants to transfer designs via cable or memory stick. I would imagine you could get $1000 selling it outright if someone wanted it for the fantastic sewing features.

I'd say on Ebay you could get $550 or so. On craigslist around $650. I do realize that there are machines priced higher on ebay, but these don't sell. Sure she could get more from it, but the prices I'm saying are what I'm pretty sure they'll sell for right now. For the member who got $750 on trade in, that seems like a great deal.
