Where do you shop?? (Moderated by Deepika, Sharon1952)

I have all 3 stores available to me, but I've only ever been to Joann, simply because of the mailer. I signed up for Hancock's ages ago, but have yet to receive one.
It seems at least every other cut of fabric I get from Joann's is off grain, so I haven't been buying from there.
Do you have a preference? Do you go to all for different reasons?

I go to Joann's because Hobby Lobby is 30-45 minutes away, they have crappy hours and they're rude about price matching. I think the closest Hancock's is 100 miles away, so I haven't been in one in years.

I shop hobby lobby they are less than 3 miles away. I also shop Hancock I am very happy with their stuff and it is a bit farther away than Hobby lobby but still close. Joann is also close but the traffic to get to it is terrible so I don't go there much they are moving to a different location which will be a bit easier to get to.

Hancocks and JoAnns have more variety in fabric than Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is more of a craft store (Michaels + fabric) whereas the other two, especially Hancocks, are geared towards sewing. I liked Hancocks the best, followed by JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. I went to whichever store had a sale on patterns but when it came to fabric it was Hancocks. If you add internet fabric shopping to the equation these three are definitely at the lower end of my list, ha ha.

I prefer Hancocks to JoAnns, but do go and browse JoAnn's occasionally. Since all but one of our Walmart stores have done away with the fabric section, the fabric section of Hobby Lobby has been growing. I saw some really pretty fabric there very reasonably priced and they are very nice over here. They are trying to lure the sewing community to their store in my location and are very pleasant each time I've just went to browse. I know it will be my future go to store for fabric. Its a pretty good size store and I would say 1/3 of the store is sewing fabric and supplies right now. The sales lady said they would expand even more. They also have pretty good sales. I would pick Hobby Lobby over JoAnn's anyday. But they are all pretty close to me. So in my case, I guess it is just a personal preference.
ETA: I forgot to mention that it is nice when I walk in Hobby Lobby that they have lots of cute fabric that I haven't seen before. Sometimes when I go to Hancock Fabrics, I see alot of the same fabric I see at Walmart.

Same here, Hancock's is typically my first stop, too.
There is a Hobby Lobby on the same parking lot at the Hancock's near work, but I have been sorely disappointed in all the fabric I have purchased at Hobby Lobby.
There are multiple JoAnn's in my city, but none of them are less than a half an hours drive from me, and I haven't been thrilled with their prices or their quality.
There are a few independent stores around, and I like them for when I need "good stuff." Although, I still order quite a bit online as well.

I usually go to Joann's (no Hancock) unless I'm in a city that has both Joann's and Hancock, but I like Hobby Lobby for Simplicity and McCalls sales because they usually have the new patterns in stock.

Joann's because it has the largest selection, Hobby Lobby because they have some Michael Alexander and basics so as polka dots and such at lower prices than Joanns. Like the fabric's at Hancocks but that takes a special trip because it is farther away.

I have all those stores available to me at equal distance, depending which way I point the car. I follow their mailers, website and FB religiously. I visit each equally.
Hancock's (2 stores) - Mostly buy my notions and patterns there. If I'm looking for something specific, I'm not lucky at all. However, probably 100% my impulse fabric is from there. Their staff is WONDERFUL. Very strong in customer service.
JoAnn's - Located in a creepy strip mall, the store itself is creepy and the staff---well you get the picture. That being said, I buy a great deal of fabric there and they voluntarily give you 40% off your highest priced item at regular price. So I have close my eyes to the rest.
Hobby Lobby - Wow...I've had such good luck there. Great selection I can't find elsewhere (most recently, dotted swiss), prices better than the other 2 (velvet at Christmas was $12.99 vs $24.99 at both J and H). Same 3 sweet, sweet ladies since I started going there. I discipline myself to only go there when they have a 40% coupon available.

Each of them has something the others do not.
Though I have to drive an hour and a half to get to a Joanns, I'll do it occasionally. They have more garment fabric choices. Hancock's is very near, but most of the garment fabric is pretty dim. There is the occasional surprise. But the staff is very good. Twice I've seen one particular clerk be just so nice to elderly customers it was very heartwarming.
Hobby Lobby is great for unique crafting fabric, and has things like clear vinyl which Hancock's does not. They have great fabric on the big rolls too that are very interesting.
