Is it wonky? (Moderated by Sharon1952, EleanorSews)

Strangest thing!!! I did a stitch sample when I first got my 730e and all stitches were beautiful and perfect. Now I go to #604 and it needs a balance of plus 2...strange?
I love this stitch for borders. Those with this stitch...check it...is it wonky?

I went to test this for you. I had my 635 set up for embroidery and forgot I had the straight stitch plate in and promptly broke the needle! How could I have forgotten that important thing? Now, my decorative stitches are slightly off and a trip to the dealer is needed.
Sorry now I can't answer your question! I hope someone else can.

It's my own fault. I am embroidering now and it is fine. It just made the decorative stitches slightly cram together. Nothing serious and an easy fix.

Needing a balance of two is sort of wonky. I will be able to take a pic of the ones I just sewed out later when hubby brings home my SD camera card.
Mine weren't coming out wonky or needing a balance. It is however, hard to keep a long line of the design lined up. I was stitching on quilting cotton with a good solid cutaway stabilizer and embroidery thread on top and bottom with embroidery bobbin in place (gold latch), cause that's what was in the machine. I finally started concentrating on keeping the guide line on my fabric lined up with the center line of the 1C foot. That helped.
I can stitch out one of the very large directional designs and just leave the fabric alone, and those come out perfect. Something about making a line of smaller designs though that will take some practice.
All that said, each individual design was coming out balanced. When I did the balance to 2, the screen showed a really wonky looking design. Can you post pics of what yours are looking like? What was your fabric, stabilizer, needle and thread combo? Could be that these stitches need you to use the gold latch bobbin case. Were you using your extension table? If the fabric is hanging off the free arm, that might be making a difference.

When I first got my 635 and wanted to sew out all the stitches, my decorative stitches were all wonky. I took it in and the stabilizer I was using with a muslin was the culprit. Even though it was a heavyweight stabilizer, it was slick on the bottom. I would never have thought it was only the stabilizer.
Not to hijack kirstensews thread, but even though I broke that needle earlier and now my decorative stitches are slightly crammed together, it did not affect embroidery. It turned out perfect: Peacock number 2

SewBusy, that beautiful! Hope your machine is not out because of that! I don't use a straight stitch plate when embroidering on my 630E. Less user error that way!

YIKES!!!! Sorry! Guess one needs to put an orange sticky note when straight stitch plate is on as a reminder. Just hitting the plate and breaking a needle sends the machine off? Boy, I did not know that. Maybe 2 or 3 bright orange sticky notes!!!!!
I do love the way one corrects wonky stitches on the Bernina though...you just look at the various pictures of what the stitch looks like and put in the balance remedy. If you go to your machine and put in the 604 stitch number and then go to the balance icon and look at balance 2 you'll see what mine looks like . The fingers of the stitch are all up on the right. If I stitch it out with the balance at 2 it is perfect. It is strange that it DID stitch perfectly before without a balance adjustment..and all of a sudden now it is doing this funky stitch. The other stitches are fine though. I was just wondering if there was something in the software that was sending a strange message for this stitch.

Yeah, it is hard to keep the stitches going straight ...especially the ones that go all over the place...you can get dizzy. Practice practice...I even tried using a stitch guide but it still went everywhere.
