she had a seizure this morning (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)

My darling 14 year old jack russell terrier had a grand mal seizure (I think) this morning while I was reading PR and drinking coffee. I heard nails clicking and sliding in the kitchen and when I turned in my chair, she was falling sideways. She tried to get up, and seized again and went down. Her body was contorted and her eyes unfocused. After perhaps 20 seconds, she saw me again and I held her while she rested. Within 2 minutes she was back to normal. There is no sign of neurological damage so I am pretty sure it wasn't a stroke, but was a seizure. Please wish her the best-we are going in for blood work at 2pm today.

I hope she's ok. I've been going through some health issues with my 12 yr old dog. It's so hard you can't explain things to them or ask them what's wrong.

best wishes, of course! My beloved border collie, Joe, had a seizure once while at the vets. they wanted to do a lot of invasive procedures, but I said no, took him home, and it never happened again. I hope Bandit is fine!

Hopefully it was just a one time thing or reaction to something, so hard to have a much loved pet experience something like that. I am sure it was very upsetting-do hope his blood work is ok.

Thank you to everyone-it helped immeasurably to know that you were supporting us today. My vet (who takes care of my old dog Bandit, my old horse Woodrow, and my middle aged dog Nick) did blood work and an additional liver test--->all is good. All her numbers are normal and she is really healthy. I've decided to do nothing more, and will not medicate unless they increase in number and severity. Dr. Doug did say that some seizures can last 20-30 minutes!
Again, thanks from both of us. I included an old pic which honors Mike, my last big dog. He was Bandit's hero and died shortly after I took this pic.
