How do you secure the ends? (Moderated by Deepika)

Hi everyone,
I need some help, I'm finding my twin needle stitching is unravelling.
What I have been doing on hems is starting the stitching at the side seam and when I come around again going over it a little. Then I pull the threads through to the back & tie off.
THe woolly nylon doesn't seem to like the way I tie off, because it escapes & then the stitching unravels.
I've tried something different on the last thing I made so hopefully that will work better (using the secure threads button on my SM).
What do you all do?

i tie off (however, i don't use wooly nylon. it's scratchy to me). what kind of knot are you doing? i do what is sort of a square knot: have some threads in each hand. then, i do right thread over left, over again. then left thread over right, over again. hold all the threads when pulling the knot tight.

Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves, and of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys, they’d just walk around naked at all times.

Tie your knot in the threads and then put a dot of seam sealant...the soft kind. This will secure the knot and keep it from becoming loose again. I have had trouble keeping nylong laces tied....triple knots and still one will come undone!

I do exactly as mamafitz does. I've found it's important to cross the threads over in one direction first, then the oposite, then the oposite again. The knot stays square this way. I do use wooly nylon and I just make sure to leave all the ends long to include all three in the knot.

Thanks everyone! I will try the square knot (I don't know what I was doing, so I'll pay more attention) & I know I have some fray-check somewhere.
