I'm hoping that I can see an assortment of coverstitch machines at sewing expo next week with some kind of incentive to buy.

I'm also hoping it will be love at first stitch and all of this confusion will be out of my head.

Will have to sell one of my 2 sergers to feel better about spending so much on another machine. Will it be my Bernina 007D or the Bernina 2000DE ? I love them both, maybe the 2000DE willl have to go, I can get more for it to buy the new machine. I hope the coverstitch machine will make me forget the pain of selling one of my babies.

NO DON"T SELL YOUR BERNINA 2000DE
Janome makes really nice and affordable coverstitch machines like the Cover Pro 1000CP (not too sure on price). and brother also has a nice coverstitch machine, this one is on amazon for $400 Brother coverstitch machine

what brand of machines did you have in mind?

Here is a PR thread on coverstitch machines:

Thread

There are several pinned threads on the Janome machines.

And here is Debbie Cook's fabulous comparison chart.

I'll be looking at all the machines at the expo, but Bernina and Babylock seem to always be fan favorites( if I can swing it financially). I have never had any experience with the Janome or Brother brands.

I know for sure janome makes quality machinesI never intended to own 2 janomes (a MC300e and MC6600p) but now since i've got it i don't know why i kept ignoring it before. Currently i'm looking for a serger, I have decided to get a Bernina 1150MDA (which has no coverstitch function). This bernina will be my first serger so the coverstitch wasn't really necessary for beginning. But when time progress and i decide to purchase a coverstitch machine, i will no doubt get a janome 1000cpx. I watched videos on youtube and pretty sure reviews here will say it's an excellent coverstitch machine and not very expensive either.

After more thought I've decided to eliminate the Bernina. I liked the footprint, but don't think it has enough features to justify the price. I've just always been a pretty loyal Bernina fan. May have to put off my CS for a while ,my Bernina 930 just cost me $170. to service and have new feed dogs. I guess I shouldn't complain that's the only thing that has ever been replaced in over 20 years.

I think like everyone else I'm going to be buying the Janome or the BL ,when it comes time to purchase. Just hope I can do it soon. I love my knit tops and leggings in the winter.
