Hi group, Maybe someone can help me. I have a gorgeous hemp tunic from Kauai which I'd like to copy. I'm going to start with this pattern-Waterfall tunic from Islander Sewing System. http://images.patternreview.com/sewing/patterns/islander/104/104.jpg
Fabric suggestions include rayon, challis, microfiber, silks, lace. I'd like to use a rayon because I find the hemp tunic a little heavy- but rayon has been very hard to find. Do you have any suggestions, or even leads on where I might look? I have scoured EOS (too $$$), GF (1 ex), Fabric.com and fabricmart.

Appreciate any help-thanks!!

Fabricmart had a good selection of rayon challis a couple of months ago - I had just bought some from my local store (Stonemountain) & it was really nice. The local folks said they hadn't seen much rayon challis for quite awhile, but it was showing up again.

I know that's not much help in terms of specifics, but they still had quite a bit a few weeks ago, so it's possible that it is becoming more available.

Ooooooh the fabric used in that tunic is the same wonderful cotton I used last year on a DoS blouse review I would kill to get more of that fabric! It looks SO good on that pattern!

Love that tunic! You don't say what color you are thinking of, but IndoBatiks has rayon batiks...some very muted and others with designs.

IndoBatiks

And, if you are willing to dye, Dharma Trading has white and black rayons...
Dharma rayons

Rayon fabric does seem to be getting very hard to find...perhaps eBay?

Sorry, no help with the rayon, but thanks for drawing my attention to the pattern. Love it!

Rayon crushes a lot. How about wool challis or crepe?

Yes, those are also on my radar....I made a wonderful blouse a few years back with wool challis. It is one of my faves.
