I went virtual fabric shopping this weekend, I had already been to Joanns for some creative inspiration. And I was schocked how quickly the prices have gone up. I know we talked about this. But even my go to virtual stores are $9.00 yd. If I were to have to pay $9.00 a yd constantly the only quilts I will be making are mini ones. I'm glad to have some stash that I can probably make a few projects. However I found a pattern I liked online and re-created it but of course was missing those one or two fabrics to pull it all together. It's always the way in my stash as I didn't stash wisely, brought what and whatever and not a lot of it goes together. I also need some blenders. I love the marble like fabrics and new line just came out called Stonehendge but as I said at 9.00 a yd I won't be buying anytime soon. Am on a very tight budget now and probably will be for a time. So much make use of what I have.

Well, I understand that cotton will be going up because of an issue with the cotton crop...great.

In a few months, $9.00 a yard is going to seem like a steal. I work at a quilt shop two days a week and all the new fabrics are coming in at $10-11 yard! Yikes!!!

I have just ordered some Stonehenge fabric here in the UK. Think yourselves lucky, in the UK it is the equivalent of $24 a yard.

Yikes Peggy.. scaring me to death here. Since I buy mostly home dec. I have to buy always about l5 yards. use to always buy the bolt. or 25 yards .. Lately have tried to cut that down to 12. .and home dec is not cheap..
However I really get a kick out of finding a remnant or some ebay buys on the cheap. and then seeing it later for much much more.
Needless to say.. I don't purge very often. Nor do I stash a lot ..

Well girls it's time to start our own cotton coop. We will need a farming space. Then a space to process the cotton. Then a weaving room and dyeing room. And will need probably at least 100 employees to start. Also an operation budget to buy the necessary farm and procession equiptment. Probably a $300,000.00 start up not including land investment. Puts people back to work. Think the government will give me loan? No but they would if I wasn't a citizen.

Flannel too is going very high....double from what it was this time last year.
Hobby Lobby has 30% off batting this week.
It is very hard to say NO to nice fabrics & thread.... so I too do not think the fabric stores will be seeing much of me for a good while.

Sheesh. .I may have to switch my favorite hobby to papercrafting.

This will be translated into higher RTW clothing prices also you know.
