Because Fukushima seems to have faded from memory, I'm wondering if any of you realize how it's affecting the U.S. Our food is contaminated. It isn't being tested. It's being distributed to supermarkets and consumers are unknowingly purchasing it. Obviously, Calif., Oregon, and Washington states have been hit the hardest, but it's being covered up. Anyway, for those of you who are aware of what's going on, how are you coping? How are you protecting yourself? There's something called "rain-out" all over the U.S. and no one knows for sure if the rain you just got caught in dumped radioactive particles on your clothing. Today's rain in your town might contain them, but the rain in the next town might not. I've been keeping current on the situation. Who else besides me?

Dr. Helen Caldicott video. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I'd never heard of this woman until several months ago.
Oops, forgot to link to the video interview with Marco Kaltofen, PE, Environmental Scientist, Worcester Polytechnic Institute about his research studying airborne radioactive particles from Fukushima and Handford. Click here.
Edited for clarity.

I'm sorry to say that I figure there's not a thing I can do about it. The stuff has become so distributed, there's no way to escape it.
I was shocked (but not suprised) to learn that there was at least one complete meltdown (and probably more) almost immediately after the tsunami, dispite what the politicians and media were telling us. And even more shocking was the lack of public response when this finally became public knowledge. What is wrong with people?

I kind of think Hanford ends up being worse than Japan, especially since Hanford is chronic never ending pollution that's slowly seeping into the aquifer and the isotopes involed in Hanford last thousands of years. A total meltdown, or many of them, isn't really that dangerous. We had a total meltdown here in the USA in 1979, very little radiation was released. Heck, you probably get more residual radiation just living in St. George, Utah.
There really isn't anything you can do about it either. Taking Potassium tablets won't help you. Radiation is a fact of life anyway, we get it just by being alive since it also bombards us from outer space.
Since there's nothing you can do, I would say don't worry about it.
