I went online this morning to check what new books have come out/are coming out about fashion sewing. I found 978-1234687885 and all I can figure out is that it seems to be all about vintage simplicity patterns.

Has anyone heard about this book? It was released at the end of October.

Amazon has it in stock, but there is no picture. It doesn't come up on google books. The description is a bit strange. I'm not sure what you would end up with.

According to the Amazon description it's a collation of articles copied from Wikia - I suspect from the Vintage Sewing Patterns Wiki. Maybe pattern pictures and descriptions of vintage Simplicities from the wiki?

I did a little more digging and found the Books LLC website (the publisher). They apparently take content that's available online via a creative commons license, copy it and turn it into book form, and then sell it. From their FAQ: "Wikipedia and Wikia are free. Why should I buy a book with Wiki content?
Our Wiki books are bought mainly by libraries and people who prefer to read a paperback than a computer screen. The typical 100 page book has more than 200 articles. You might have a hard time locating those articles without the book. Furthermore, we don't charge anything for writing the articles. So when you buy a Wiki book you are getting the content for free. We only charge for the time spent compiling, editing, indexing, typesetting, designing, printing, binding and shipping the book. Our website and the book descriptions we ask booksellers to display prominently credit Wikipedia or Wikia as the source in both the author and description fields, include an excerpt of one of the articles, and the titles of the other articles (space permitting) that readers can use to read the content online without buying the book. The book itself credits Wikipedia or Wikia as the source at the end of every chapter. "

(Sketchy, albeit legal? You be the judge.) Not something I'd spend 20 bucks on, in any case.

In reply to LauraTS
Thank you LauraTS! It does sound very sketchy and not worth $20! I checked around some more and found a "cover picture" for the book. It looks like a flower that belongs in a science or nature book.
Thanks again Jane
