Can anyone recommend a resource (hopefully with photos) that shows how to sew a sleeve in flat, rather than set in? I've heard of the technique, and heard that it's easier, but can't find any photos to learn how. Thanks, y'all!

Don't have any pictures but any sleeve with the exeption of a 2pc jacket sleeve can be sewn in the flat.
1. sew shoulder seams together and finish raw edge with zig zag or serger stitch.
2. take sleeve, sew 2 rows of long stitching for easing (exception is tshirt sleeves or dolman sleeves)
3. match front and back nothes and hold with pins
4. match large dot on top of sleeve to shoulder seam
5. ease in fullness of sleeve between nothes
6. sew in sleeve
7. sew sideseam of garment and sleeve together in one long seam

Here is a super quick video.
Sleeve/Flat Sewn

Try coupling Sew2006's excellent instructions with the video.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

Thanks! I had a mental picture of what it would be like, and these confirm that it really is as easy as I'd hoped :)

While it sounds easier, some sleeves are better put in the traditional way. It just depends on the pattern.
