So, I have a DD bust dart in a crepe-back satin blouse to deal with. Unfortunately I drew & cut the top with the idea of dart pressed upwards, but gravity is not my friend! So now I'm faced with a return that isn't quite long enough to catch in the seam when I split the dart and press it flat.

I have to reduce the bulk, so I will be trimming the dart edges once split & need a lightweight, non-scratchy seam finish to stop the fraying. Serging is out of the question due to the tricky position. Fray-check stiffens the fabric too much. Top is not lined, so if I'm binding the edge, I need something really soft & flexible.

Any suggestions for finishing the edges?

TIA

Barbara

Can you not just pink the edges?

Seams great works well for binding edges like that.

even use some hair spray on the seams sometimes this works fantasticly , or clear nail polish applied very gently and not overly.
Netty.

Hmm just read that your top is not lined, so the ideas I added are no good sorry.

I ended up splitting the dart, trimming the edges to 1" and binding them with a bias strip of silk organza. Looks nice & neat and feels fine. Don't think my customer will have to worry about abrasion ruining the inside of her blouse now.

Thanks for the suggestions.
